Grinder. A common household impliment in the early part of the 19th Century, this old grinder was in the kitchen at the old Point San Luis Lighthouse. Built in 1890. The keeper’s family lived a domestic life there. Everything needed to build the lighthouse and furnish it, as well as its outbuildings had to arrive by ship. Now, a single lane road snakes from the highway to the lighthouse grounds. Phone and make an appointment to visit. The trolley ride is included in the fee, along with a docent tour. You may also stroll the grounds.
