Fall Harvest Time Down on the Farm by

It’s fall havest time down on the farm with baskets of apples and pumpkins galore. Two farmers are working hard herding the cows up to the barn as they finish their chores and another day draws to an end.
This pencil drawing was my entry in the 1994 Georgia Agriculture Day Art Contest and had the honor of winning third place.

I owe my love of art to my mother who was an artist & teacher & I began painting at a very early age. After graduating Auburn U, I moved to Atlanta, GA where I was a member of the South Cobb Arts Alliance & attended many local art shows. After living in the Atlanta area for a number of years, I have moved back to my roots in rural Alabama. Art gives me joy not only in creating a painting but also in sharing it with others.

    well deserved enjoy and create

  • Thanks so much! I used to enjoy entering this contest. The downside to it is that they keep your original piece of art whether you’re one of the winners in the contest or not. This is a photo copy of my original.

Hats off to your superb handiwork Vivian. This is one impressive drawing and congratulations for the 3rd place win. Also merits an Impeccable Fave. >Ron<

  • Thanks so much! Georgia had a yearly Agriculture Day Art Contest that was open to anyone who lived in the state of Georgia. I lived there for years before I found out about it, but I entered it 3 times and placed all 3 times. Each year they had a different theme. Then I moved to another sate. The only thing that I didn’t like was that all artwork entered became their property – you didn’t get it back after the contest. It was a fun thing to create a piece of art focused around that year’s theme and I miss getting to do that.

wow, your quite the artist!! Excellent job Vivian!!

  • Thanks so much, Angie, for your lovely compliments! I would have spent longer on this if the contest I entered it into had not kept it. That was one of the rules. There was no entry fee, but all art entered becomes their property.

Lovely art work Vivian with nice blend of pencil outline and shading. It has such a simple charm about it that fits well with the rural theme.

  • Thanks so much, Tony! Every year the Georgia Dept. of Ag held this art contest and each year the theme was different but it was always related to some aspect of agriculture. It was fun to see what theme they’d come up with next and then create something to fit it.
