Rural Mailboxes, Bird and Butterfly by Vivian Eagleson

Rural Mailboxes, Bird and Butterfly by

An early morning scene of rusty rural mailboxes where a colorful bluejay has found a peaceful place to perch. Down below, a bright yellow swallowtail butterfly attracted by the lavender morning glory blooms has stopped to investigate. A thoughtful friendly neighbor has left an unexpected gift in one of the mailboxes as a surprise to its owner. Oil painting that was inspired from my days as a substitute mail carrier in Georgia.
This is dedicated to the rural mail carriers of America!

Oil painting on 16″ × 20″ stretched canvas.

I owe my love of art to my mother who was an artist & teacher & I began painting at a very early age. After graduating Auburn U, I moved to Atlanta, GA where I was a member of the South Cobb Arts Alliance & attended many local art shows. After living in the Atlanta area for a number of years, I have moved back to my roots in rural Alabama. Art gives me joy not only in creating a painting but also in sharing it with others.

Only a true artist like yourself would be able to take an ordinary everyday scene and make it into a beautiful work of art. This is lovely. I was a postman so I can appreciate it ven better, although we don’t have many mailboxes here. I had to walk up a long driveway and post the letters through a letterbox in the door.
