Portrait of Chris Fruitrich, journalist for USA Today, retired.
Hmmm, very nice portrait, Von. Love this man’s eyes; the raised eyebrows and the Mona Lisa smile make him a very interesting subject. Lighting him from both sides is wonderful. Lol, the hat is a touch of beautiful whimsy,
He’s a great subject for sure…it was difficult to get him not to smile during the shoot. Some people are just happy all the time. I used mix lighting in this shot, first time I’ve done that and it seems to have worked out well. Thanks Jan.

Wonderful shadow play, awesome capture!
Happy to hear you say that Shelly….I love shadow play and use it when ever I can.
Fabulous portrait and lighting!
Ah shucks Cheryl…taint nothing! :-)Thanks!!
I’ve been teaching lighting in preparation for when I get myself down-under someday and to give a week long workshop….better know what I’m talking about before I get there.
Malcolm! Thank you sir….
Nicely shot Von.
Getting back to my roots in B&W portraits…feels right in B&W! Thanks.
portrait magic in B&W. the eyes are hypnotic. applause!!
Many thanks Michael….I too think it’s in the eyes that makes this portrait.
Awesome portrait Von!! Its almost like you can read his thoughts
When it tells a story I have what I need in an image…big thanks! :-)
You have definitely gone over to the dark side now haven’t you?Good choice and well done on your lighting and posing!
Well I’ll say this…it saves on buying backgrounds…lolI consider myself lucky to have gotten the chance to work with a subject that has such a wonderful soul.
