Your wonderful mind is at it again Von…Great shot..I looove cemeteries, I have trillions of images, but none include mannequins….I just knew I was doing something wrong..I think the weather may have been to your advantage with this image, really adds to the overall feel…I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, you’re a star Von..xxx
I thought about her wearing black as most images have but you know me I got to be different. It was like pulling teeth getting my assistant to go with me…maybe he was scared. Ya that’s right James I said SCARED! (he’ll read that) If I’m a star then you must be the galaxy I revolve in. :-}
Gerat shot Von, I like the mood of this one. You seem to have all the right elements in place for the photograph. A fitting Title. Great composition as always – Peter
If there’s one thing I loath is doing a shoot in bad weather especially when it’s cold. I’m a wimp and know it. I did however want to get this one done before the trees started to bud out. Thanks Peter.
Oh….I know you dream these things up…but what kind of nightmares are you having lately?? Yikes…
Seriously you are coming up with some truly novel ideas and they are really interesting in content and creativity!! You are really traveling down a road less traveled on these!! Great work Von!!
You should have seen the rubber necking going on from the passerby’s…what the! lol The fun part was picking her up and slipping her into the plain white van. OH NO!
This is GREAT Von! I was going to ask if you got a lot of funny looks but you have answered that already…..sometimes that is the best part :D Even though the weather was crappy I do think it probably worked in your favour. Gloomy mood to this…...super cool :)
Funny looks ain’t nothing, I didn’t want anyone calling the police saying there are grave robbers as we carried her into the van! Thanks Shelly! Gloomy worked with this shot.
With your latest ‘twisted’ images my dear Von I am thinking you need some TLC, a good massage, and a great bottle of Vino pronto! All kidding aside I love your ‘out of the box’ thinking. One just never knows what you are going to do next :)
That all sounds so wonderful. I’d like to be in Paris for the wine and Amsterdam for the massage please. Thanks Renee!

You would love where I live. My sister has a big old house that was built in 1863 and sits in a cemetary that has tombstones dating back to the 1700’s. Very very awesome it is. There happened to be a burial today and I thought about taking some photos of them lowering the casket but It creeped out my sister so I decided not to.. I guess I’ll stick to flowers and Mountains..LOL
lol i’m sure the cows will be mooing the gossip for quite sometime! yep got car keys just haven’t been home long enough today to redo the shot. hopefully this evening or in the am. Since i don’t think i have anywhere to go tomorrow
This is awesome Von! What a sight it must have been watching you set this shoot up! Love the selection of the “Morrow” tombstone, it’s so close to “Sorrow”. Nicely done, despite the elements!
Well seen Andy I hadn’t put that together. Carrying her back to the van was the funny part…we laughed at the thought of how grave robbers must feel like. Without the smell o/c. Thanks Andy!
Like Wendi, I love all the banter in the comments and replies, Von. The weather adds to the mood for sure. Being a one time fan of horror, and vampire tales, this image evokes memories of tales I used to read in my youth. Great image.
I’m trying not to make this recent work to scary for people to view…more thought provoking about the people we have around us in the now. Hope that makes sense. Thanks David.
spit into the wind in defiance LMFAO!!! Well you did prevail and came up with a fantastic moody shot of dracula’s bride doing the rounds…Ya gotta love cemetary shoots…..go back in the full moon and get some more….it’s soooo much fun!!! ;)
Manequins in the Grave Yard,, are you sure you’re not in New Orleans.. Fun shot, stay away from that Missouri lighting when I went to K State we use to get some of those midwest lighting storms and I couldn’t belive the bolts, and winds too.
Superb scene Von, I love this, the tones and composition are wonderful. I agree, the gloom really does make the scene an I enjoyed reading your account of the day not going to plan.
Thanks Pete is was a bit of a challenge with the cold and wind…one never knows unless they try right. Thanks again Pete you’re always with the great comments.
Thanks for the notice of her looking off…as to leave the viewer wanting more, to see what she’s seeing. That’s the why I see it anyway. :-}} Out of the box indeed…great idea for a SP me crawling out of a big box! lol
Not the most pleasant of days to be out shooting but if I had been out on a clear, warm day it wouldn’t have that atmospheric look you so well described…thanks much Jo!
You did! I especially like the headstone that reads “morrow” brilliant! I love to shoot in cemeteries, but never did much conceptual stuff. Making me think.
Jen Cannella
Great shot against all odds Von!
Tell me…how’d that spittin’ in the wind work for you? :)
Von McKnelly replied
I would have been better off flipping the finger.
Thanks Jen!

Jamaboop

Von McKnelly replied
So true, it wouldn’t be the same on a sunny day. But as you know I need a sunny day. lol :-}
Jamaboop
Oh, I hope you don’t want me to lead, I am lousy when it comes to leading. ;) LOL

Wonderfully eerie! You are feeling a little glum, yes? peace…
Von McKnelly replied
Facing one’s fear is the ultimate challenge and I do love a good challenge.
Never glum my dear…no time for such silliness. :-}

Marvellous image – love the stark sky and trees’ contribution to the atmosphere. You have an eye for balance that is very pleasing.
Von McKnelly replied
I agree…if the tree’s had been in bloom it wouldn’t have the same effect.
Thanks for mentioning the balance, that means loads to me.
