..when the Sharks and Jets face each other off.
I created this collage from two different groups of birds off the coast of NW Scotland.I had been to a place called Red Point south of Gairloch in Wester Ross,NW Scotland. It looks across the sea to the Island of Skye.Off the first beach to the north of the headland I came across a group of Black-throated Divers (known as Black-throated Loons in North America).I was very pleased as not only were they my first for the year but also they were the biggest group I had ever seen.(Bottom picture)
On the other side of the headland is the entrance to Loch Torridon and another beach. From there I got a shot of a family group of Red-breasted Mergansers.(Top photo)
I was glad to see both groups were evenly matched at 9-a-side. The Mergansers were playing a 1-3-3-2 formation, and the Divers were trying out Nelson’s tactics from Trafalgar…line formation. My money is on the Divers.
