A moment of (almost) quiet contemplation at Aysgarth Falls on the river Ure in the Yorkshire Dales National Park..the title is a play on words. Force is the local name for falls from the Old Norse word Foss.(Although not at Aysgarth!!)
This day,the valley of Wensleydale above the falls had suffered a lot of flooding. The water was coloured by the sediment.
These are the upper falls. They featured (with less water in) in the film Robin Hood; Prince Of Thieves.

Look at that dramtic water and force flowing there, I can imagine it was not quiet. Hope no more flooding round your area this year.
I just came back from Langdale and the Brathay is overflowing below Elterwater..our river is slowly rising too..it’d better stop raining soon

oh wow – never seen aysgarth quite so flooded. Are there any of the lower falls from this trip? I’d love to see the water funnelled through there…
Sorry Matt,I took some but they didn’t come out as I’d have liked..although the falls were almost flat.
