4th November 2009 seen whilst driving up the road to Whinlatter in the NW Cumbrian Fells of the English Lake District near Bassenthwaite Lake…
I remember the story of the rainbow from the bible and how God sent Noah a rainbow as a sign of his promise not to cover all the earth with waters again…by the 20th November it must have been raining for 40 days and 40 nights and the waters rose around this area ,flooding many of the smaller dales down to Cockermouth downstream of Bassenthwaite Lake, and Workington beyond causing untold destruction and the death of one poor soul,a Policeman trying to prevent people from crossing a bridge in danger of collapse…it did,and it took him with it.
After that it stopped raining. One might wish that Noah and God had re-worded their Covenant so that there were no more floods at all.
