The Valley Of The Eagle by VoluntaryRanger
Size:

$6.60

Riggindale above Haweswater in the Lake District National Park, home to England’s last remaining Golden Eagle. I was there with pal Alex Bradley , my driver and general physiotherapist and one time Bubbler whilst recovering slowly from a broken arm.
We didn’t see the eagle, but saw plenty of red deer in the distance.
The ridge around the valley is a great walk from High Street, named for the old Roman road than crossed it,to Kidsty Pike (right)

Beautiful shot Jamie – shame you didn’t see the Eagle – is that your next Challenge?
Thank you for sharing your artwork with the Photomatix HDR Group!

  • I reckon Bob..I saw it last time I was here..but it’s a needle in a haystack job..if it perches on crags at the far end,you need a powerful telescope just to see a tiny dot…you have to be in the right place at the right time..

    excellent capture mate
20 years ago we briefly saw an Eagle, it was perched on a dead sheep
Jane saw it , I got a brief glimpse in the car mirror, unfortunately we were in a flow of traffic and couldn’t stop.

  • Cheers mate…I saw it last year…I was watching a Red deer stag with my ’scope and it flew over him,so I kept it in view as it flew right down the valley…magnificent.

Lovely views Jamie. I believe the last Wolf ( wild one) in England was shot not fare south at Humprey Head near Grange-Over-Sands.

  • Close to my home Roy,yes you are correct. The eagle probably came from Scotland originally as did it’s mate before it died…they raised a few chicks and I bet they all went back to Scotland..
