can’t fault this shot – I am very very jealous
Voltaire Carlos replied
Thanks Peter. When you get to use this lens when we get together you’ll get the same results.
Peter Martin
I’m not so sure about that…hand-held, even with ringflash, I am not getting that sharp
Voltaire Carlos replied
this is proof
Peter Martin
i’ve done it again – (guess what) – I just went and recalibrated the viewfinder dioptre with my AF macro, and now… (ahhhhhhh) ... sneaky little bugger must have got moved, and I didn’t check it
Peter Martin
our little get together is going to have to wait until the XD MkX gets back from damage control – I only seem to learn the hard way – but what a ride eh?!
Voltaire Carlos replied
What the – no!!!?

i posted a journal of absolute failure, which you obviously didn’t read.
2 weeks gone as of today thursday 20th sept. 2 weeks to go… (but at least the NEW sensor won’t have oil spots from robots on it, though it will probably have sweat and perspiration spots from the humans putting it back together again..
Peter Martin
I meant 10th, but my late night “1” button aim ist nicht sehr gut

This is FANTASTIC Voltaire. I’ve done alot of reading about that MPE lens and am very curious about it. I understand there’s quite a learning curve for it, manual focusing being difficult etc, any tips if I happen to pick one up some day?
Voltaire Carlos replied
Thank you Jason, definitely get one. It’s not hard at all especially iof you are read up on the technique to handle this lens first. you have to think like a sniper! Anyway get a ringlite flash and it will be easier handheld for @X plus. link to my first macro shot to prove it is not hard at all. http://www.redbubble.com/people/voltaireview/art/2663461-10-portrait-of-a-moth

Thanks yanyan.
SusanAdey
Great capture. I’m still working on bug shots.
Voltaire Carlos replied
Thank you Susan, the trick is with your 50mm macro is that you have to get close. Tip is they hardly move in cool and shaded places, also do not cast a shadow over them by you.
Edge-of-dreams
This is an awesome shot. I need to get lessons from you!! I’m still in point and shoot mode and find it hard to get out of auto and macro mode on my new dslr camera.
Voltaire Carlos replied
Thank you very much Mia :-). i’m humbled as you take great macros yourself without the advantage of the 65 MPE macro lens. Happy to to do an excursion together and share ideas and techniques. You have Macro mode on your DLSR? Also i would suggest Manual to get a full contol of macro shots.
JennyDean
