I really should have done this the reverse way than I did. Instead of trying to draw a mostly dark piece on white paper, I should have tried to draw white on black. But no. I went through over six 4/6B pencils to draw this. It’s rather old. At the time I had intended it to be a sequel to Heliotroped.
I recall bringing it to the northwoods while we vacationed one summer and I had been working on it in the screened porch one eve – only to leave that room screaming when it was invaded by bats. I didn’t work on it up there after that.
I’ve had it reframed since this VERY early shot of it. Wanted to show the scale of it:
Cynthia’s high school teachers tried to classify her art. Unable to come up with a tidy genre, they dubbed it “Lundism”.
