2009 textile print designed for a UK fashion brand Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

A juxtaposition of disparate objects, inspired by Albertus Seba’s illustrations, and the 17th century Wunderkammer; cabinets of natural curiosities that eventually evolved into our modern-day museums.

This digital collage was originally created as a 140cm repeat, comprising over 400 different images, while taking three weeks to complete.

So loving this. The scientist in me has always had a fascination for specimen collections. :)

  • Think they call it magpie syndrome; ‘a collector of things of little use or value’.
One of the sources was a book on dead things in preservative jars – I got some strange looks while browsing on the tube.
    Thanks for your support, V

    Very interesting earthy tones.

  • We aimed to stay faithful to the original colour of each image, which may contribute to the authentic feel of the final composite. Thanks for your comment & support.
