Artist's Description

Located in Sonoran Desert of southeastern California the Salton Sea in an inland saline lake that is below sea level in elevation. It is said to have a slightly higher salinity level than the Pacific ocean. This lake was formed in the early 1900’s when the banks of the Colorado River overflowed at Yuma, Arizona. The Salton Sea is 35 miles long and 15 miles wide, California’s largest lake can add 5 mile both direction in a very wet year.
