Machinery of the Past

On one of my trips to the ghost town of Lake Valley, New Mexico, this quite interesting piece of equipment caught my eye. I do not have a clue what it is but strongly believe this is so sort of mining equipment used in the towns hay-day, said to be 4000 residents in this mining town in the late 1800’s.

It very well could be, if I find out for sure, I will let you know. Anyway it certainly looked like it had its place in the world at one time and it just looked worthy of a shot. Glad you liked it, thanks so much!!!!!! :-)

Nice capture Vicki, lovely shapes and textures, what ever it is it’s probably been miniaturized now and fits into a small box!!

Yes it is interesting ! and it is associated with mining, it’s a tumbler, belt driven, perhaps used in seperating heavy minerals such as silver and turquoise or other applications of simular seperation ! this contraption would be found in many locations, thus I’ve seen others nearing this design in the Colorado mining camps as well ! Thanks for sharing the image Vicki ! well done and appreciated ! paul

Wonderful Paul!!!!! Thank you so very much, I knew it had to be something with mining, if not, something with the railroad but that just didn’t seem to fit. Ever so much appreciated Paul!!!!! Vicki :-)
