Mother's Embrace

A mother providing life-giving nourishment in the warmth of her embrace.

The black-crested Sulawesi Macaques is one of the most endangered monkeys in the world, populations declining 60% in the last 10 years. This monkey is found on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, where it is hunted because its meat is considered a delicacy. Habitat destruction is also contributing to their demise.

Wonderful shot Lisa – this captures the essence of love and motherhood in a very special way. I love these primates, they are full of character and I love the way they all join forces when a threat is percieved within a group. Beautiful work

How beautifully tender, Lisa, and so sad about the condition of their species… The little one represents some hope for them, and it’s so nice to see it being nurtured so tenderly…
