Although her world is a wonderful place to live, with warm, shallow seas and gentle weather, she hungers to see what lies beyond the frontier. It’s in the blood of every “space cadet”, the yearning to cross the sea of stars as surely as our ancestors yearned to cross the oceans.

I started out to do a very simple, meditative piece of calm deep blue seas at night. Messing about in Bryce, tweaking textures and skies led me instead to this final image. There is division between the sea, which is an endless expanse, and the greater endlessness of the sky. She, as a living entity, is a being of water even as she looks skyward.

Image is a composite of three separate Bryce renders, tweaked and merged using The Gimp.

Please note that this image looks significantly darker when printed.

Publishers should be fighting to buy this piece for a book cover. It would make any sci-fi book that had it a best seller.
    Fantastic job!

  • Hi James, lovely to see you! Thank you for the vote of confidence; part of why I got into digital art was to illustrate, both for others and my own little stories. So glad you like this, cheers!
