Yeah, how come her boyfriend got the stellar surfboard and not her? Okay, I know that’s not how the story goes… but why not?
I started out to have a go at the Silver Surfer of Marvel Comics fame, but went off on a tangent and put his girlfriend on the board instead. Okay, as the story goes he was the one who was given the powers and the burdens, and she got to stay home – but in the end, he did confer some of that power on her so that she could regenerate the plant life of their devastated homeworld. Which is pretty cool in itself, and wouldn’t go astray on Earth either.
Due to her work restoring the planet, the people made her Empress. She decided that she couldn’t spare her boyfriend the time or attention any more due to her new responsibilities, and thus broke it off with him. So she ended up pretty darn powerful in her own right.
Please note that this image looks significantly darker when printed.!
So how does one surf in space? With a Poser model (V4) and surfboard exported to Bryce. Stellar effects added with The Gimp.
Speaking of stellar, it’s high time I gave a big bright salute to Sherri Nicholas , her abstracts are truly otherworldly and brim-full of love and light. Not just a wonderful artist, but a wonderful person as well.
And now, some musical accompaniment. Ace guitarist Joe Satriani got some inspiration from the Silver Surfer stories. Here’s a piece of his I love, called “Back to Shalla Bal”.

Wow! I love the directional movement in this. Reading the descriptive part,I think it is so appropriate that you used a female as they are the life givers.

3D models are generally very static and motionless, it’s one of the major criticisms of the genre, so you have to throw everything at them compositionally to get any sense of life… in space you can fall forever, it’s great, LOL! Cheers Frank, thank you :D

Great variation; loved the history recap.
Excellent image and reflections.
Thanks, Dan! Yeah, I found out the hard way that a silver figure in black void doesn’t show up terribly well, LOL. Cheers :-))
