Canals on Mars? Preposterous. But there are canals on this world, cut through the rugged terrain by a civilization long passed. Millennia ago, they used this world as a manufacturing plant, producing rich biological compounds to supply their culture. The world teems with simple lifeforms, the seas bright with algae, although radiation and potent biotoxins render it unsuitable for human habitation.

Simple life forms draw larger predators, the giant “phoenix” being one of the more spectacular. They have intelligence and may, if approached carefully, tolerate curious visitors.

Please note that this image looks significantly darker when printed.

Spacegirl and phoenix rendered in Poser, own texture mods, suit by XUrge. Background rendered using Bryce. Image assembled using The GIMP, multiple layer modes and masking, zoom blur used.

This image is not for sale as the printed version is murky. RB’s printing setup doesn’t always suit my images.

Wow, this is fantastic, very realistic sci fi! :O)

  • Thanks for the fab compliment, Vanessa – I love to try and make it realistic, and it’s great to have programs that make it work. Cheers!

  • Anything to get out of the cloudy grey days, heh! At least, that’s how it was when I started work on her. This is what happens when I fiddle around with Bryce. Cheers mate :D

    Excellent!! . . .

  • Thanks, Hugh… turned out okay for a mug messing around with terrain tiles. Had the volumetrics turned up and it took all night to render. Not quite to your level yet! Cheers.

Great “fiddling”, Virgo! Are you going to put these Voyages together sometime in a book??? Each one whets the appetite for more! Always glad to see a new “installment.”This one is no exception – brilliant! Now I want to hear the whoooole story! lol

  • LOL, funny thing is, there’s no real story here – she’s just an explorer, a wanderer, and I never know where she’ll end up next. If she visits enough places there’ll be a calendar, I guess. There’s a story going on elsewhere, I’ll post some characters from that one soon. Cheers! Thanks Nadya :-))
