You can see the wheels turning in his little head. That he DID play, as you said, means he sorted through something, the disappointment could be replaced by the pleasure of moving on and into what’s next. I hope you have photos of that joy too. This one is wonderfully touching, all the childhood frustration and despair so deeply felt in him resonantes much. And more than that, all that lies ahead in this brave little life.
