yes, they have a certain mystique about them. It would be pretty cool to see one alive again!

i remember reading a bit on the victorian age and about this man who shot the last known bird of its kind (not sure what type of bird – some sort of sparrow thing). and he wrote about his “indescribable joy” at being hte last person to kill one..
madness, and it really hasnt changed too much. we still have an ivory trade. orangutangs are used as actual prostitutes, whales are cut up for “scientific research” and we chew thru the forests as though tomorrow wont come..

My father patted this very animal which was quite tame. It died in the zoo on Hobart’s Queen’s Domain in 1936. Many people in certain areas of Tasmania claim that there are a few still around. Fellow Tasmanian samedog has some cool Tiger design T’s.

Thanks for the comment Lenny. That’s a very cool story – that your father patted it – not that it died in the zoo. You never know – they may be repopulating in some remote pocket of Tassie wilderness – here’s hoping. Yes, I agree – samedog has some very cool Tassie Tiger T’s:)

congrats on the Home page feature! Love your design as this is one my favourite animals….... my family have spent a lifetime trying to prove its existence here in WA…..since Dad caught one as a boy. He has written books and featured in documentaries on this elusive creature…... I commend anyone who stands up for the “tiger” and who still “believes”! Great shirt and concept!

Love the design mate.
My brother in law lived in Strahan on the West Coast and his uncle shot one (not meaning to, thought it was a wild dog) in 1959 some 20 years after this fella died in Hobart zoo. He never let on to anyone because he knew it would be big trouble. I come from Snug in Tassie, never saw one myself but I know a marine biologist who swears he spotted one with pups on the far NW coast in the 80s. Personally I think they are extinct, but I still hope cos i have bushwalked most of the SW and you could hide an entire civilization down there.
