Reminds me of Alice Cooper… Is this you all painted up?
yeah tis me. this was the only shot I liked, cuz of its close detail. you’re poison running through my veins.
Alice Cooper definitely comes to mind. Well done
Ive been taking an interest in european black metal recently, reading about the movement during the 90’s with church burnings, murders and stuff. interesting to say the least. oh and thanks for checking out my video on the ning site. Im still finding my way around that site and its groups and didnt know how to respond to you…luckily ive slowly but surely figured out this redbubble thang
One of my “Animal Face” pictures I created was a zebra texture, it came out all dark and goth looking, even a little creepy, so I didn’t upload it, but you’d probably like it.
aaawwwlet the darkness take hold of you, haha. you can email it to me if ya like, my address is on my RB page. im not really goth, not dedicated enough to wear head to toe black in an australian summer, but I find a lot of the imagery of it fascinating.
I spent years letting the darkness take hold of me… I try to find a balance these days, two trips to the psyche unit are plenty. Oh, an email has been sent. :-)
I actually find early black metal culture to be very interesting. The murders, suicides and church burning add a brilliant morbid tinge to it all but even without it I would love the culture.I’ll admit though that black metal, recently has been a somewhat let down. Bands are either losing touch with the punk-esque spirit of the scene and just blindly sodomising the old idols or becoming elitist cunts.
I could go on about this for hours, but I’m trying to cut down on my slathering over things that I love. This picture, corpse paint and black metal, I love.
its great to hear someone passionate about it. Have you read Lords of Chaos? it details the rise of black metal up to and past the 90’s. I find a lot of the black metal atitudes actually fairly ignorant socially and repressive of musical freedom. but I have found some bands considered kinda black metal which I dig. have you seen Peter Beste’s work? Thats where I guess I got the idea to try my hand at facepainting and so on. love to hear more from you about the topic as you seem to know a fair bit, cheers for the fav too
No, I haven’t read it, I can’t find it. I have heard of it though, I’ll look harder. I can’t disagree with you, I am trying to think up some kind of argument. But I can’t. I will say however that it seems there is an admittedly small number of bands and artists who are trying to change the culture’s music scene. Plus some of the old bands, most notably Emperor, are abandoning the corpse paint. Sometimes it seems the genre wants to move on, but on the whole the scene is a brick wall and too few are trying to push it forwards. One artist that I would point out as a progressive black metal artist is Caina, he isn’t recording anymore but his albums are astounding and have so many influences beyond Mayhem or Burzum, indeed beyond black metal.I have just looked at Peter’s website, I have to get that book. It looks fantastic. I don’t know a lot, but yeah a fair bit sounds about right. I would love to talk more on the topic.
yeah I noticed the guy Isahn? is that his name? who used to be in Emperor and also another guy who used to sing for Mayhem have begun to push black metal, much to the despise of the hardcore fans it seems, with other projects. I like bands like Mastodon and My Dying Bride who seem to genuinly not care for remaining stagnant musically. I bought Lords of Chaos and it was an import book so may be hard to find. I will check out Caina too, aint heard of them. Peters book is cool but it costs over $100 so maybe in a couple years time if it comes down or if I see it second hand. yeah hit me up on email or myspace.
email is firstname.lastname@example.org and theres a link to my myspace from my Redbubble page. salut
wow………….and I thought I had a DARK SIDE :))))))))))))))) Amazing Work!!!
Im a bit of a child when it comes to facepainting, I reckon it is an easy but effective way of portraying expressions, something primitive about it too
Creepy! Welcome to the Dark artists, dark art group ;)
