Unused railway line at Booyong northern NSW.

Single RAW file converted to 5 exposures then combined and B&W tonemapped in Photomatix Pro. The resulting HDR was then fine tuned in SilverEfex Pro 2 and then USM in NX2.

Nikon D300 & 18-200 VR.

This one is difrent mate i bet you were still looking behind you, looks good with the SilverEfex and the HDR. How do you convert a single file in to five exposures.

  • Thanks mate.
I’m sure there are a few ways to do it but i open up my original RAW file in NX2 and use the exposure slider to change the exposures to -1,-2,1,2. i save each exposure as a TIFF file including the original. End up with 5 TIFF files which i then export into Photomatix Pro. Sometimes Photomatix may not recognise the different exposures but you can easily type in the numbers when this happens.

Fantastic result with the HDR, stunning image.

  • Thank you for your lovely comment John, I find combining HDR and a B&W treatment, especially SEP2, gives an amazing result. Thanks for the favourite too John.
