Jesus from the street

Jesus from the street

This image for me is an image of the Jesus of all street dogs. Icon, like it or not.

Gringa is one of those abandoned street dogs we are trying to find a family for. She´s now living in a dog´s shelter. It´s heartbreaking to see all the street animals here in Lima. It´s a time for a new religion. It´s time for a better world.

Do not buy! Adopt friends!

Such a beautiful dog and picture…always terribly sad to see homeless dogs. We invited them into our lives thousands of years ago – should this be their fate? Look at the hope and love in those eyes.

  • ViktoryiaN replied

I agree with you: it is totally unfair! They are so dedicated to people, and they must be loved and respected back!
It´s 21 centure! There should be no hungry street animals!
    Thank you, Smallfox!

I love the way you care for the animals Victoryia, I do the same thing here In Las Vegas and truly, excuse me but hate people that abendon or hurt their pets, I have a ton of stories about abused pets and I am just sick and tired of people like that. I myself have 3 adopted pets which I rescued and my dog Dexter which I rescued 10 years ago was oing to be killed because I did not have the right bill with me. it is horrible, here in Las Vegas because we are the #1 in Forclosures within the US, people leave their pets in he empty homes and they die if they are not found in time, is it to much to ask to drop them off in a shelter? I don’t get it, but I see you have the same problem, sorry for this long comment

  • ViktoryiaN replied

Oh, I understand you perfectly when you say you hate those people who mistreat animals. I do feel the same way. I believe animals deserve the same treatment and love as children do. Unfortunatly nowadays there are more and more cases when people abendon, torture, hurt, or simply ignore their pets. Just today we´ve got one more puppy to the dog shelter that we are working with. Two children brought him to us and said that if we couldn´t take the dog, they´d leave it in the street, cse their father didn´t want to have it any longer…. :(
I thought that the animals where treated better in US… But the fact that people just leave their pets without food, water and attantion… it´s just killing me…
I´m glad to hear that your pets were adopted. I´ve got 2 dogs and 2 cats in my home in Belarus and one dog here in Peru. All of them were adopted. All my family is crazy after out little ones!
I was happy to read your “long” comment! Thank you very much! :)

Beautiful portrait and powerful message… Sadly, pet abandonment seems to be on the rise all over. Here, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the pet population at the Humane Society skyrocketed as the boom went bust. I always try to encourage adoption if at all possible. I’ve adopted two rescue Chihuahuas (one of whom sadly passed away this January) and our cat was a foundling as a kitten. We were even fostering a rabbit, and it took almost three long years to find her a perfect permanent home! I don’t understand how people can just abandon their once beloved pets… I agree, they should at least relinquish them into shelters or rescue organizations. I don’t think there should be a mandatory fee for animal surrender. There could be a suggested donation perhaps, but surrender fees only add to the problem of pets being left to their own devices on the street or worse. :(

  • ViktoryiaN replied

Oh, I´m truely say to know that oe of your beloved passed away… But I´m happy to know you also adopt. I try to promote adoption as well. I believe that one can´t buy a friend, while adopting one pet you can make a great difference!
My husband and I have organizes a simple facebbok where we try to attract attantion to the problem of street animals. We work trying to help the dogs shelter and the abandones animals here in Lima.

There is a writer/Art critic who writes theories about animals as Art & our political role to learn from them. Interesting! John Berger (2008) most recent paper. :D Booker Prize candidate. Cheers.

To me he’s like showing us his deepest thoughts while falling to pieces but despite all of that he’s got lots of hope in his eyes. :) I’m glad this is being featured.

  • ViktoryiaN replied

You know Gringa is very shy and doesn´t trust much on people, besides she´s scared of other dogs, but at that moment she seemed to be so brave and strong and full of hope (just as you notices). If you come to visit us once (I hope you will), I´ll introduce you Gringa and all other beautiful doggies we are taking care of. :)
