This particular specimen reminds me of a marshmallow that was kept over the campfire too long.
Thanks to Carla this is the information she wrote about this specimen:
Old Man of the Woods….a fabulous bolete mushroom (no gills…it’s spongy underneath the cap). Beatrix Potter did a fabulous study and observation of this species that the science fellows of her day denied she actually witnessed. It’s edible too.
I am dedicating this to her since it’s her favorite kind! Thank you Carla!!

It is my hope to always bring out something good and positive in all that I do! Despite our outward differences of faith, religion, culture, or even global location, one thing we all as humans embrace is a sense of acceptance, and belonging. Our art is an expression of who we are and a language that needs no words. It is my hope that my work depicts all that is loving and positive in which to edify others. I give all my thanks to my God who has uniquely and wonderfully created us in His image.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! You found my top favorite mushy in the whole world! Old Man of the Woods….a fabulous bolete mushroom (no gills…it’s spongy underneath the cap). Beatrix Potter did a fabulous study and observation of this species that the science fellows of her day denied she actually witnessed. It’s edible too. Ohhh rolling in jealousy now

  • Wow, that’s so neat to know. I so love reading your comments on these things. The woods around here are so full of wonderful finds, I wish I had you to go with some time, that would be such an education and so much fun too!
