February 2010, Ground Hog Day, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, USA

This is a statue of the original Punxsutawney Phil. He is the little guy that predicts how many more weeks of winter there will be. He lives in the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania where thousands of people will gather at Gobbler’s Knob on Feb. 2nd, at the break of dawn to hear what Phil’s prediction will be. I think I already know…6 more weeks!

It is my hope to always bring out something good and positive in all that I do! Despite our outward differences of faith, religion, culture, or even global location, one thing we all as humans embrace is a sense of acceptance, and belonging. Our art is an expression of who we are and a language that needs no words. It is my hope that my work depicts all that is loving and positive in which to edify others. I give all my thanks to my God who has uniquely and wonderfully created us in His image.

What a great looking statue – I’d love 6 more weeks of winter here in Wisconsin, they’ve even declared a snow drought! Send all snow to us, ok? Great photo!

  • Wow, a snow draught in WI? I think there’s been more snow south of us this winter, but it’s awfully cold here!

i’ve seen the groundhog from PA… but not the statue…

  • There around 30 groundhog statues in Punxy, they are in front of almost all the bigger establishments, they all have their own custome made one. Perhaps you were there before they were made, they aren’t that old. Maybe I’ll post some more so you can see them. ;>

Very cute, we visited the place a while ago looking at colleges in PA. We love the movie even though it wasn’t really filmed there.

  • No not all of iGroundhog Day was filmed there, but certain places it was. I didn’t care for that movie, it drove me crazy! Thanks for looking Anne!
