vanuatu
Back when Vanuatu was still called the New Hebrides, I had a great friend in French painter Tatin. He was a genuine bohemian Lived in a little tin shed with no facilities at all. On the edge of Erakor lagoon. There’s a giant luxury hotel there now. I used to stay with him and sleep on the floor, among the chickens and half finished paintings and bottles of wine.
I think, after forty years in the islands, he went back to die in France. He was a Gauguin who nobody ever heard about. I have a couple of his large island paintings on the wall of my home in Tasmania.

An incredible photo – what a moment captured. After seeing this shot some years ago I was determined to visit the location – and here it is now:

So very glad you saw and experienced what you did when you did!
