You delight in this era don’t you Vicky? I can remember the personalities who lived along my street as a child, all headscarves and rollers underneath….cotton aprons etc… The football pools coupons being collected and milk floats in the early mornings. Is there still a sense of neighbourhood alive and well I wonder? Brilliant work, I’ll have to fav it :) ~ Anni
vickymount replied
Thankyou Anni…I remember all of that too…and space hoppers, choppers, long hot summers and deep snow. Glad you like it and has brought back memories for you. vix

What a wonderful painting!
The colors and contrasts are simply amazing! I see that it is an oil painting, but it contains all of the subtle pastel shades that I usually associate with water colors, but with so much more refined details.
This is truly an outstanding work of art!

This takes me back, collecting insurance money ,from around these areas, some had dirt floors and gas lighting, and i’m talking early 70s.Thanks for the memories.
vickymount replied
I didn’t think gas lighting and dirt floors were still around as recent as the early 70’s!

Yes,IN A FEW STREETS IN NEWCASTLE UNDER LYNE,AND IN STOKE BY THE OLD FOOTBALL GROUND.

This takes me back to my childhood days in the 1950s. We had gas lighting and cold water and an outside loo. At first glance, your art has a deceptively simplistic appearance, but on closer examination it is filled with delightful detail … you are a really wonderful artist.
