CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN DOWN

Climb the mountain down
above is only sky
Feet firmly on the ground
got to dig deep
to answer why

Thoughts of sadness fill my mind
is it wrong to hate the morally blind

Who has the right to decide
that one man lives
while another dies

My body lies in my warm safe bed
while my life is lived in my crazy head

The news of the world flashes in my eyes
corruption, war on terror, conspiracy and lies
make front-page news not the Nobel Prize

No comfort and joy for the seething masses
credit card bills, escalating taxes

Life lived vicariously through manufactured press
when outside the front door lies a manmade mess

In the moment, in the minute, the hour and the day
I sit alone wondering how my life ended up this way

I want to smell the flowers, to swim in the sea
I want the personal choice to live my life as me
alone but with the beings that populate the earth
fulfilling my destiny of purpose and self worth
