I’m thinking that the CPL might have been better left off here :-)

Nikon D300
Sigma 10-20 @ 10mm

Hoya CPL
Camera Profile set to Landscape (just discovered profiles … LOL)

Changu Lake, Indo-China border a few hours north of Gangtok.

Got the title from a friends comment elsewhere – but he is so right. This place is just dying for a few rolls of Velvia!

It is a great view point Vikram, nice rich colours. I wonder how it would have looked without CPL.

Lovely shot, Vikram. I think without CPL, you would not have got the depth to the lake… and that is just stunning.

Do you think it’s too saturated? I agree with Sue about the depth in the lake that you would not have captured otherwise. The in-camera landscape setting tends to increase saturation in blues and greens.

  • Yep – that was me poking fun at the colours. But this is it out of the camera with a s-curve applied … I’ve always used Neutral and only just started playing around with the in-camera settings.
I had put on the CPL to cut reflections – but the combo of landscape+CPL and whoa – this is VELVIA saturated!!

  • Take a look at this scene without the CPL effect and set on neutral Green and Brown

I did not phrase that carefully enough… I personally don’t think it’s too saturated, I said that because of your comment about the CPL filter! Sorry about that! You know that I love bright and rich colours, don’t you?
