I took this pic in a small brahmin village in Kerala – the most bizarre sight – rows of these houses on both sides of a narrow street and a large temple at either end of the street. That was it. Nothing else. That was the entire village. Completely isolated from the rest of the world otherwise – their entire world was that one street.
I went hunting to try and find out why the houses are blue: “Some say that blue is associated closely with Brahmins, India’s priestly caste, and that blue houses belong to families of that caste. As a consequence, they are frequently called “Brahmin Houses”.”
