More of that fantastic sky … this was with the WB set to normal.

Nope – not my yellow flip-flops :-)

Vembanad Lake (Vembanad Kayal or Vembanad Kol) is India’s longest lake and one of Asia’s largest freshwater lakes

It lies at sea level, and is separated from the Arabian Sea by a narrow barrier island. The Vembanad wetland system covers an area of over 1512 km². Canals link the lake to other coastal lakes to the north and south. Several rivers flow into the lake and it is over 14km wide at it’s widest point (which is about 2 Km to the left of this pic)

It’s now a major tourist destination for visitors around the world – who come here to tour in the unique houseboats that ply on this lake and the entire wetland system (might have some pics of that up later).

    great composition and execution Vik…

    love the simplicity of this

  • Cheers Dean – I like how this pic seems to at the same time have great depth and then suddenly have no perspective whatsoever .. it could just be flip-flops on a pavement against a wall.

Vikram, this is an AWESOME series. I can feel your excitement at being there in these perfect conditions. It’s all come together, and I bet you were shooting like crazy!

  • Thanks Peter – about right on the excitement!
With just 25 meters of shore frontage and the far shore not being parallel (so any angle and it just looked weird) – there were only so many different compositions to shoot. But yeah – I was a little kid for about the half hour this lasted.

Wonderful minimalist shot Vikram, you’ve had an amazing day! I’m impressed with the 10-20 keeping the pavement straight!

  • NIGHTMARE!! Took me forever to set up!! Few mm to the left or right and it would screw up the horizon, then a few mm up or down and I’d have to do the whole thing all over!!

Lovely simplicity Vik. The flipflops sure add an accent, makes you wonder where is the owner…

  • Thanks Monika! The owner yet out a yell some time later when she woke up and found her flipflops missing :-)

I really like this picture Vikram, the minimalist composition, the perspective, the lines and the touch of color with the flip flops all complement each other. Congratulations!

What do you mean they aren’t your flipflops? I can see you in yellow flipflops. Honest ;-) Great work, Vikram.
