Love this one too great reflection and colour

  • Thanks Kym …. flash+red subject = difficult for sensor to capture detail on the red properly. I was quite pleased that (I think) I got the flash-red balance right.

LoL, I’d have teeth marks in mine!! Great shot buddy :)

  • That’s the problem with photographing food … I usually find that by the time the ideas start flowing, I’ve eaten all the subjects!!

What do you use as a reflective surface?

  • Black plexiglass. You also need to keep the surrounding area black (I surround it with additional plexi sheets) to prevent other reflections from appearing … If you keep a white surround, you’ll get a light gray to white background (it’s reflecting the white).

A perfect reflection. You are a master with the lighting. Stunning.

  • Thanks Shawn – I was wondering if this was just a bit too straight and boring …??

Spot on! I like your “1 minute setup” LOL I’d have to negotiate for an hour just to be allowed to borrow the strawberry, never mind setting up the background and lights… :-)

  • I keep the perspex under a glass-top for a table. Just lifted the glass and voila!! The light-stand was still out (I hadn’t put them away) so just popped the flash onto it with the diffuser on and camera hand-held!!
Seriously – one of the easiest setups ever. From experience I know that f/11 at 1/60 gives me good depth in the reflection – so I just needed 5 shots at different angles and that strawberry was back in my mouth!!

You are the king of organisation! Amazing light and reflection; I really love the angle creating a perfect mirror effect! :-)

  • King of Organisation? (you might want to check with Sapna on that!!)
I’d originally planned to turn this on its side to resemble lips … finally, with the green bits, I decided to leave it as is.
