Tea cup in High key.

I didn’t have a white tea cup for what I had in mind – I did have a very pale yellow one though so shot in colour and then converted to B&W knowing that the pale yellow would appear white in the conversion.

Nikon D80
Nikkor 105 AFS VR
f/9.5 1/180 secs
ISO 100
SB800 fired upwards into an umbrella positioned directly over this set up.

I agree with Geoffrey….this is so pure and has a very calming feel to it. Fantastic composition and lighting and smart thinking on the conversion. And of course Vikram….it is a favourite :) This has inspired me to try the high key thing again!

    incredible, awsome lighting!

  • Thanks Dinesh – the lighting is actually quite simple – just bounce off a light off a large white surface (so the flash off an umbrella) – it gives a nice diffused light without any shadows.
