I was introduced to the work of Michael Levin a little earlier this week and had been editing an image of mine towards that ‘look’.

It’s one I had taken at the same time as Power – just that I had over-exposed it and then had to reshoot it. Glad I didn’t delete the out-take as that’s this one!! Just required a lot more processing than I am used to.

Anyhow – I like the final result :-)

The title’s a take from U2’s album No Line on the Horizon that I’ve been listening to while editing … and the album cover artwork is very similar to ML’s work (U2 used a photograph by Hiroshi Sugimoto which was part of his Seascapes collection)

Interesting technique! Loads of ND and very long exposures?

  • I loved going through his work.
He shoots on medium format and then scans in the negative to process them digitally. His exposure times go up to 20mins.
Mine here was close to a minute with the 10-stop ND on.

Nice shot Vikram, I love images like this, great work!

  • Thanks Simone!! Your work got me interested in GNDs and NDs in the first place ….. and I’m REALLY glad I began exploring that area of photography!!

I love how you are always trying out new things and never just settle in a comfort zone (like me!) Really wonderful work here Vikram :)

  • Thank you so very much Shelly!!
Oh no – my comfort zone is firmly stuck in shooting subject matters that can’t tell me to move my a@#$ and get on with it!! So you see table-top and landscape photographs!!
I shudder at the thought of doing what you do – portraiture!!
