Rainy days and mondays always make me cry by

Hands up those who know the Carpenters. Ah, the days of childhood. Somehow, this song got stuck in my head that day (monday), and how fitting it was to reality!

I should just give up on holidays!!

Last time …. got stranded on the highway with floods and landslides. This time, the weather was kind enough to let me get to my destination before bringing in the rain and landslides!

So there I was – stuck indoors cos of torrential rain for 4 days – with the knowledge that I was in beautiful landscape country, up in the hills – but with all that beauty covered in clouds (it was a washout-whiteout!!) and so looked around indoors for what I could capture.

Awwwww Vikram! You’re not having much luck, are you? Still, I’m pleased you’ve still managed to capture something! I love the rain detail in the background. And the contrasting colours are cool. Great title too!

  • ROTFL!! You can say that again!!! I should quit my job and hire myself out to drought hit areas!!
    Glad you like this!!

Oh no… so sorry you couldn’t enjoy your holiday again, but at least you are safe and sound, and you still managed to take some great shots!

  • That’s strike two in 2 months as far as holidays go!! (two wash-outs!!)
Hope to make a hit next month or it’s strike three!!

of the three shots, this is my favourite. Lovely balance my friend.

  • Mine too …. I have no idea why though. It’s centrally composed (and not very central at that!!) – but it gave me a ‘feeling’ when I saw it on the back of my LCD – so here it is!!

Lol not a lot of luck with the Weather eh! – not to worry – any day away from the office is a good day eh!

  • LOL!! Photography de-stresses me …. and gets me back in the right frame of mind for work…. I didn’t get my ‘fix’ this time!!

Hey…good for you for finding something good in the bad! The weather forced you to look around and perhaps see things you normally wouldn’t have right?! And what you saw here is total art! I love the colours and the wavy blurry feel the water on the window gives. This really is beautiful Vikram :)

  • True that!! The low light and rain forced me to use only the 50mm (fastest lens I have) and look desperately for subjects!!
Thanks so much for your kind comments Shelly!!

Wonderful contrasts and amazing detail coming through, even thought it’s shot through a window!

  • Thank you so much George – I think the detail is from where it pressed against the glass and/or from the areas that were sheltered by this little plant from getting wet.
    Glad you like it!!

Nice contrast from the inside and outside! A clever use of time and opportunity! Us photographers must get our fix and the whole environment is our canvas!

  • Thank you so much Joanne!!
How true!! Us photographers – must get our fix!!
