I used a IR plug-in in PS to convert this from colour to B&W.

Nikon D80
Tamron 28-300 VC
f/5.6, 1/1500 sec ISO 200
Mode: Manual; Shot in RAW

I had wanted this in B&W when I first composed it. But I also tried a few other tweaks:

There’s a Green IR Film Filter:

This is brilliant Vikram! Love the effect the filters have had on this. Such a characteristic tree in itself, really well taken mate.

  • Thank you so much!! This was exactly the look I wanted – high contrast, B&W – when I took this pic – so yeah – the filters saved a lot of time on fiddling around in PS trying to figure out things :-)

Interesting technique! creates a very daunting image. It reminds me – I have not done any IR for a while… You shouldn’t do these things! ;-)

  • LOL!!! Well your work inspired this very first IR work (albeit simulated IR) from me.
I need to try a few of these before I can figure whether an IR filter purchase is justified.

  • Thank you so, so much Ursula!! I alctually thought of what you would do with this subject while taking the pic :-))

Beautifully eerie! What kind of plugin did you use?

  • Thanks Johanne!!! I used “this one”http://www.ppmag.com/web-exclusives/2006/11/tut... – then fooled around with it a bit!!
