  • Thanks Nic! After going through your B&Ws – I realised I liked high-contrast B&Ws and so gave this a shot after reading up.
The black sky is as I applied an action that imitates a red filter (from film days).

I LOVE this in b&w Vikram! Very, very dramatic. Perfect tones and composition….love how you work that 10-20! Awesome image :)

  • Thanks Shelly – for the behind the scenes input!! :-)
I’ve suddenly realised that when outdoors, I tend to keep the 10-20 on the camera all the time!!

gotta love the sky. great work Vikram.

  • :-) – yeah amazing isn’t it!! When the clouds build like this and the weather is scorching hot – you know that the fury of the monsoon is being built up thousands of miles offshore and will hit in a few weeks (which it did – and how!!)

This is fabulous Vikram!!! Sweet B&W, the sky so ominous, so many tones for your eyes to dance over…excellent:)

  • Cheers Robert!! I used to love the red filter in film – Digital just makes it easier to use as an afterthought!

My Favorite, this is awesome Vikram. How far away from your place is this?

  • Thanks Nat!!
Not close – about 5.5 hour drive each way, so you won’t see me there very often. Though I’d love to be there for a dawn shoot. This was at mid-day.

What a fascinating place. I would love to visit there. I love the B&W treatment. Really draws you into the detail.

  • Thank you my friend. Perhaps if you visit – would be glad to take a trip down there!

This view is stunning Vikram, by favourite, I prefer the dramatic tones in this to the colour version, even though the colour is still amazing…. FAVE! Black and white really sets off salt pans here…..

  • Thank you so much for your comments Vicki and the fav!
When there’s a great sky, I too prefer B&W to colour for landscapes – it changes the scene from beautiful to dramatic!
