Loved and revered by the “Bullet” lovers from all over the world, the Royal Enfield motor-bike is a much sought after bike by most Brits who travel through India.

I’m not a bike-lover myself (I’m not fanatic), but even I get a smile everytime I see one of these. This one was parked not far from the promenade in Pondicherry against those lovely yellow-ochre walls that typify French-Pondicherry architecture.

Beautiful shot, Vikram….love the dappled sunlight in the shot – makes it seem more alive somehow, also contrasts with the simplicity of the ochre wall. Very nice title! :-)

  • Thanks Wendi!! I cloned out a couple of dapples on the wall behind to enhance that contrast.
Will miss your comments over the next month! Have fun!!

Great shot Vikram. Riding a Royal Enfield in India is definitely on my ‘Things to do before you die’ list.

  • That is definitely a must-do Karen!! If you can manage it someday, I’d suggest a trip through Leh & Ladakh on a Royal Enfield – you’ll NEVER forget that!!

Great shot, well seen and captured Vikram! Besides what has already been said above, I must add that I also like all the little reflections in various colours in the chrome parts. Little bits of green, yellow, blue, red, pink, etc.

  • Thanks Johanne!! LOL!! I can see a little bit of me in one reflection. And the red I think is my car parked across the street!! I didn’t notice that before!!

    Lovely shot Vikram, great capture.

I was looking for Royal Enfields when I was in India in Febuary, but didn’t see too many, mostly Japaneses bikes. The ones I did see were from the bus I was travelling on so not much of a chance for a decent photo.maybe next time.

  • Thank you for the lovely compliment Brendan.

Sadly it the Japanese bikes that seem to dominate the roads here in sheer numbers. Royal Enfields are relatively difficult to come by and the ones you do see are usually owned by people who wouldn’t ever part with their bike. A good idea is usually to check out any of the numerous Royal Enfield or “Bullet” clubs online in order to find one.

Wonderful Vikram, love the light and processing! :))

  • Thank you Simone. Just played around with the tonal curves a bit to get more detail out.

Thank’s for the tip Vikram. I plan on going back to India in a couple of years time, touring South India. I hope by then there will still be a few around for me to photograph.
