The previous 7 pics will take you through the little walk I had to reach this point. OK about a 3 hr walk as I kept stopping to take pics!!

I started the walk from the right hand side of this pic and walked towards the lake below till the little island in the center. I then walked around the lake and up this hill. Distance in the mountains is a funny thing …. I sure took a lot longer than it looked – LOL!!

Here’s a pic-by-pic sequence of the walk to here:

Walking towards the water. This would have been the lake bed in wetter times.

Reach a small bit of the Emerald Lake

The top of the hill behind is where I ended the walk.

This is taken from where the cows were in the pic above

Halfway up the hill!

Came back here the next morning before sunrise to get the clouds rising up from the plains. That’s here

Nice photo(s) Vickram. By the way, where is this (or rather which part of India is this)?

  • Thanks Anuja – this is about 30 Km beyond Ooty in the hills above Emerald and Avalanchi lakes. Southern Part of India – these are the Nilgiri Hills (Blue Mountains).
Went for a little holiday at a place called Destiny which is set miles from any other civilisation.

You created a fantastic series from your photo walk Vikram! Every single one of them is awesome in its own way, but they all have one thing in common besides the location: gorgeous light! Well done!

  • Thank you so much Johanne – that was one of the best days so far this year for me! It’s been ages since I went trekking (if a 3 hr walk can be called that – but I’m really unfit LOL! – used to do 1-2 week marches) – with the camera makes it so much more fun!

Very great series, gorgous mood in every one especially in this one. Wow!

  • Thank you Carole! I actually preferred the light earlier in the day. The walk back got pretty dark with the clouds and in the forest (far side) – it got really, really dark! But yes, the mood that dark clouds give is awesome!
