I’ve been a BIG fan of all the dandelion pics I’ve seen on RB, and always wanted to shoot one. But because of the weather where I stay, there isn’t a Dandelion for miles around.

Finally found this one on a weekend holiday – and the moment it was found and moved, it exploded and I was left with just this.

Whole new appreciation for the dandelion pics I’ve seen!!

Beautiful Vikram……love how it stands out from the rest of the shot!! …… beautiful.
I’ve yet to try these…..but I’m in luck we have TONS of them here !! LOL

  • Thanks Wendi – would love to try this again, it was really blowing when I found this and looked for quite a while for another one to capture – couldn’t find any…. :-(

Your flower macro’s always turn out in suprising way. Love the low-key on this one. The last plume (or what is called?) contrasts beautifully with the dark background.

  • Thanks Peter – I guess you’re right (and the second person to have said so) – I tend to shoot flowers in low-key rather than the bright, lively things that they are supposed to be ….

Very neat composition! Well done. I like!

  • Thanks George – kinda felt stupid left holding a dandelion with just the one seed on it, so had to click :-)

I think that I like this single seed even more than a whole ball of fluff which is more common. If I could, I would be more than happy to send one of the few billions we have over here your way! They make me sneeze when their fluff drifts away on the wind. Perhaps I would appreciate them a little more if I just tried a few shots myself…

  • Wish you could send some here. But from this I know that they’re pretty fragile. Do try the pics – I don’t know when I’ll next get a chance… They’re really beautiful!!

Awesome shot. I love it! The DOF, the colors, the pop out, the crispness of the seed, and so on……

  • Thanks Carole – so glad you liked it. It was a bit of a mess for me, but glad the end result was still usable.

Great shot Vikram. I find it funny that you can’t find these to save your life and in the next little while I will have a field full of them in my backyard. Mental note to go and take a photo just for you to show you how that looks once they overrun your lawn!!

  • LOL – If I could only find a single one!! Had really wanted to take some pics of these and won’t be able to see one unless I go back to the hills on holiday ….. from Oct onwards.

LOL! It is a beautiful shot!! I can’t imagine not having dandelions around. My mother-in-law will spend hours going around with a big knife and individually take out each dandelion, their roots are so long! I’m not near that ambitious – just mow the lawn, I say! :-)
    Congratulations, you’ve made a dandelion beautiful! ;-)

  • I’m certain I would never run out of things to photograph if I had Dandelions around – they’re amazing in the level of detail they have….
    Thanks for the beautiful compliment.
