Spent a happy 2 hours reshooting and having fun with smoke art. Reshoot as I’d lost 2 shoots when my disk went “boom!” some time back – this was one of them. Been meaning to get this done – just that it gets really stuffy with joss sticks!
smoke, macro, domestic, vffeat
amazing! the thick curly smoke looks so massive in this shot. wondering how you did this…
Thanks so much Peter. Sat back and observed where most of the ‘action’ was happening in the smoke plumage – then zoomed in there and fired away. As to the how – there are a number of tutorials on smoke-art .. I’d read one online and used it as a guideline (I could try and dig it out if you wanted).

So pretty! Looks like the head of a guitar or violin.
That’s EXACTLY what I thought when I first saw this formation – then proceeded to shoot over 30 pics before I got one that I liked – this one!
WOW!! Great work Vikram. Instant fave!
Thanks Paul – for the great comment and favouriting it.
fantastic work vikram, that’s something i have to try still :)
Thank you so much Francesca – as long as you can stand the smell and smoke – it’s easy-peasy!
Great work Vikram, love the post processed inverted image and colours. I did some and ended up leaving them plain white on black, but love this. Yes, I stank the place out with joss sticks too, lol :)
Thanks a lot Pete – felt this needed a little something more. LOL – I’m still getting dirty looks at home because the smell is still lingering 24hrs down the line.
This is just wonderful Vikram. Love the variation in colour!
Amazing form this stuff takes….another ‘must do’….when I get time! It seems work keeps interfering with that. Love the shape of this one, Vikram.
Definitely a must do Wendi!Thank you so much!
So pretty !! I love the shape, and the colours :) I, too, am going to have a go at this sometime soon….
You really must Tamara – it’s great fun!!PS: Get decent scented ones as the house will smell for ages!!
Stunning capture – love the colours!
