Wistful by Vikram Franklin

Currently unavailable for purchase

Lucky enough to have this amazing woman choose to marry me.
Even luckier to have her agree to pose for a couple of pics :-) (very camera shy).

Inspired by my Canuck friend Shelly’s awesome portraits with a scarf (you all know her). But I chose low-key rather than high-key.

Wasn’t going to put it up here …. am putting it up to show the contrast in what life eyes can have when compared to my previous pic – No Hope.

Shot using:
Nikon D80
50mm f/1.8
1/40 sec in front of a window.

A Fabulous image, so well done

  • Thank you so much Kim. Wasn’t planned or anything, we were just mucking around after a heavy lunch – strangely I find that some of the better pics are made when I’m not trying too hard and just keeping it simple.

You are a lucky man to be married to such a stunning lady Vikram (give her an extra hug tonight!). This image is just completely and totally captivating! Perfect composition and lighting (love the low key), and DOF. I love how the light reflects in her incredibly beautiful eyes. This is instantly a favourite for me….I LOVE this :)

  • I know. I tell myself that every night and every morning – and sometimes in between too :-).
Thank you so much for the advice and inspiration Shelly. Truly mean that.

Wonderful use of light. Love the way you caught the light in her eyes. Natural light still is best to use.

  • Thanks so much Peter – yes natural light is best and easiest to use.
BTW – sent you a BM on your bottle pic.

Beautiful portrait. I pick up some saddness in her eyes photo but maybe it’s just the low key mood…

  • Thanks Monika – we’d gone to visit her parents (in another city) and were due to drive back in a couple of hours – maybe it’s that ….
