Take me away
This is a station in a small town in South India.
Standing there, I looked around and noticed the number of young people at the platform and wondered about the many youngsters who must have used this very same station as a route to ‘escape’ from this small town to the ‘big’ cities …... and for how many this still stood as a means of escape from life in a small town.
Wonder if they found their dreams …. I loved my few days here though – I wouldn’t know what it is to feel ‘trapped’ in a small town.
Tried something different in the processing here – cross-processed the pic to get a ‘mood’ – hope it worked.

It is a beautiful and very atmospheric shot. The title is perfect, and your story is a great read. Coming from a small town I can relate, but I never really loved the city that much. I discovered i was a country boy! LOL! Super image.

Thank you so much for the kind comment and the fav my friend!
That’s what I meant by “Wonder if they found their dreams …. ” – I wonder how many of them realised it was better to remain a country boy/girl.

Ah yes…..moody indeed Vikram and I love it when an artist puts a story with their image….there is just so much more meaning to it I think. I love the sort of muted tones and the leading lines. All together a grand image :)
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you Shelly! Glad you liked the story of what I felt – I wondered whether I should put it up then thought it would add context on why I took this shot in the first place.
The processing ….. trying to follow your lead in ‘different’.

I love the atmosphere, the perspective, the saturation of colours and mood of the image. Coupled with your description and title, the concept is so tangible and makes the viewer empathize with your “hidden subjects” – the youth of the town. Very well captured :)

Thank you so much for your detailed comment. I really love it when people tell me how an image has spoken to them.
Thank you – I truly do appreciate it!

The station looked so quiet and empty – no noises of people hurrying around …. so calm…

Great perspective and such a moody feel to it. I totally understand your story too. It is quite a shock these days to find people in villages and small towns that have never been further than a 20 miles radius from their home. It’s just a concept that seems so strange if you have taken traveling for granted all your life.
Vikram Franklin replied
There!! You have it all in a nutshell – just exactly what I was thinking while standing there!!
Am so glad you ‘got it’.
Clayton Turner
Great shot! How did you achieve the height over the tracks? Seems your in the middle, but quite a ways off the ground?- excellent perspective with the vanishing lines.
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you so much Clayton!! This was off an overhead walkway that connects both platforms.
