Faster than a speeding bullet
I don’t quite have the strobes required to capture THAT shot – LOL!! Best I can do is a crazy-ball through water!!

Clare Forder
Wow!! Vikram, this is an amazing shot! Very cool!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Clare – been meaning to do this one ever since I saw the potential in a flower-vase lying at home – glad I was able to follow through today.
Jay Stockhaus
Another fantastic shot.
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks so much Jay – for the great comment and the fav!
Nathalie Chaput
Awesome Shot Vikram!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you Nathalie! Nice to hear from you.
Caroline Fournier
I am in awe! You patient man!! Great shot!
Vikram Franklin replied
LOL!! Thanks Caroline!!
What patience? – all over in 1/180th of a sec.
Jennifer Potter
Oh now this is different!!!! I love it! : )
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Jennifer!! Slightly different – but I had to try the cliche shot first (making a collection of them).
Thanks for the fav too!
Caroline Fournier
Tell the truth … how many didn’t work out and ended up in your “bad” folder. And if you say none then I am utterly in awe and you are my hero!
Vikram Franklin replied
ROTFL!! Took 10 shots of this particular object and have 6 keepers. It starts becoming a rythm once you’ve done about 10-20 and so with some objects have 100% keepers.
Almost all the effort here is in the set-up and getting the lighting balance right – after that – it’s 1/180th sec at a time.
Mark Tull
Brilliant
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you Mark!!
Ursula Rodgers
Very very cool! LOL…I suppose you really couldn’t have your title as ‘faster than a speeding crazy ball’!! Seriously though, love this!
Vikram Franklin replied
LOL! This was cos it reminded me of that famous shot of a bullet slicing through a card taken by Harold Edgerton who pioneered high-speed strobe photography.
So glad you love this!
Shelly Hiebert
Saweeeet Vikram! I have wanted to try this for some time so expect a bmail asking for all your info hahaha! Fantastic details and again the lighting is perfect. I LOVE that you have flipped this as well. Nice work dude :)
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Shelly!
I have most of the info on the previous shot – but sure, ask away – be glad to go into it in more detail.
Flipped it when I saw it looked like a bullet. Till then I’d planned to “Ctrl+I” this pic right from when I shot it.

Cool!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks!
JUSTART
great
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks so much!
Wendi Donaldson
WOW!!!! Awesome…love how your mind works!!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Wendi – it’s funny how the mind does work though. I’d had these shots in my mind months ago, it was great to finally take them and see them.
Ann Palframan
Awesome image!!!!!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks for dropping by Ann – glad you liked what you saw!
PeterBusser
Ah, it was part of a series of three. Great, great work :-).
Vikram Franklin replied
Actually a part of a shoot where I have many more – I’ll post perhaps a couple more – before it gets too boring for everyone.
micklyn
LOVE that you turned it on it’s side – amazing.
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Micklyn – initially had wanted to process it with inverted colours. When I saw it on the computer I straight away saw the parallel with the bullet shot.
Ingz
another wow!! you are amazing and in only ten shots! I usually take sooooo many and then often not even a keeper.
Vikram Franklin replied
Awww – thanks so much Ingrid – I just stand with the remote in one hand and keep shooting, it quickly becomes a rythm and that’s when the keepers ratio increases.
Linda Bianic
Wow,,, you have an unending flow of creativity Vikram….....these are spectacular!! :))))
Vikram Franklin replied
That means so much to me – Thank you for the inspiring comment and for favouriting it.
oddoutlet
cool angle! Has the same affect anyways : ) I’d love to try this- looks fun!
Vikram Franklin replied
LOL! Yes it kinda does have the same effect (just a 1000 times slower).
You should try this – it really is great fun!
Birgitta
Wow. I love what you’ve done with this..
especially your vision & turning it sideways. Clever!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Brigitta – I would never get a chance to do the bullet shot! I better be satisfied with this one – :-)
simonesphotos
Brilliant image Vikram, the whole series is fabulous, you are indeed very inventive with your ideas, well done!
Vikram Franklin replied
LOL! It was the rain and me wanting to ‘do the cliche’ lemon shot. It took so long to get the set-up, I had to do a bunch more!!
Wayne Pearson
Absolutely awesome image Vikram, I am speechless !!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you so much Wayne – you’re too kind.
Pete Costick
Amazing again, wonderful image Vikram :)
Vikram Franklin replied
Cheers Pete! Glad you like the series!
Bradley Shawn ...
WOW! I am feeling inspired. I really want to try a shot like this. You captured it at the perfect moment.
Vikram Franklin replied
I know these are not your kind of pics – so I’m really thrilled to hear you say that!
Victoria Kidgell
Wow! this is so cool! And I love the series of shots you have done here too. Amazing! I really must try this one day. Your work always inspires me.
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Victoria – another one of those weekend experimental shoots – glad you liked it and I really do hope you try these soon!
Elizarose

Vikram Franklin replied

Taylor Sawyer
It will be featured with the top ten and one other honorable mention! You are now invited to submit this work to the group so that it may be featured!
Taylor Sawyer
Well I’m just spoiling you this week, eh?? ;-)
Congrats on your feature! You are now invited to enter
this piece into Best of ORANGE
Vikram Franklin replied
LOL!! I would love to get spoilt this way more!!!
But I can’t enter more than one pic into a challenge – can I?
Taylor Sawyer
Nope, only 1 per challenge. Thats RB rules, not mine! Althought I like both of these, I think I would go for the (Imperfect) Pour. But that may just be because I’ve seen this one too much in the last week (with it winning in Bubblers’ Weekly too)
