You and all your little projects Vikram! You are truely an inspiration to me on a regular basis! The lighting and composition once again are absolutely perfect. So simple but it really packs a punch :)
Vikram Franklin replied
LOL – my DIY projects are in a bid to save up for a 70-200 f2.8!
Glad you get inspired – as it then results in me seeing more of your work!!

Thanks Vikra for your reply. I must add that shooting glass, especially clear glass, has got to be the most difficult … you have succeeded where most people have failed.
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks David – was done with 2 pieces of acrylic (larger one white, smaller one black) and a wireless flash – used to get rim lighting. The difficult part was figuring out how to create the lighting – after that things were fairly simple (as you can see – I went a little nuts and shot a bunch of them).

I have used both acrylic and foam core for this with a medium soft box directly above … in the photo here I used black velvet on the ground and black foam core to get the edge. The biggest problem in this one was all the facets from the cut glass.

Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you David – your pic turned out perfect. I think I’ll try that soon. I had tried one with cut-glass and had problems with the facets.
Francesca Rizzo

I can see why this is your favourite from this set. It’s probably the most challenging technically, as you have to get the lighting correct in many planes, without creating unwanted reflections. And it’s done perfectly, and the composition is spot on!
But I, personally, can’t help being rather more partial to a glass of wine (even fake) than a cuppa… :-)

LOL – I know what you mean. If you want something stronger, there’s Skyy Blue

Gorgeous shot :) Just awesome … can you tell m how you set up the background and lighting ?
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks so much Rishi – The setup is fairly simple: was done with 2 pieces of acrylic (larger one white, smaller one black) stacked together with the black one in front of the white one and a flash fired from behind them – to get rim lighting.
