The back lighting really helps to show off all the fabulous detail in this leaf. Absolutely stunning. And yes viewing larger is highly recommended. The details are so fantastic! I love the main line going from corner to corner. Very nicely framed. Fantastic work Vikram :)
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you so much Shelly – got inspired by your orange :-)
I had seen this tree and the texture was just begging to be captured so off I went to buy an acrylic sheet …. had fun today after a long while.

great shot, love the details, the texture and great play in colors, very well done
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks for your kind words.
LOVE your work – just checked it out.
Shelly Hiebert
So you just layed the leaf on the sheet and lit from the bottom then?
Vikram Franklin
Yep that’s basically it. I tried some post work to turn it to B&W – ultimately looked better to me just straight from the camera.

Beautiful! even more beautiful in the “view larger” option!
I’ll have to try that trick. There are so many times where I want to capture light shining thru, now I have an idea on how to do it! Thanks!
Off to the store I go, ....well, maybe I better wait until the snowdrift, bigger than our car, is gone from the driveway! ; -)
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Ann – glad you found something here you could use – look forward to seeing your results.

This shot is fantastic!! I love the ‘inside’ of trees and leaves – nature is truly amazingly intricate… and to think these little lines actually have a function too. This would be a great stock shot …’networking’.... Cool image!! Thanks for the lighting idea too.
Vikram Franklin replied
:-) – I think I could earn some money on that!! Think I’ll submit it to i-stock or Corbis – thanks!!
Sandy Sparks
This is so beautiful. Is it a hosta leaf? Have you tried different lights?
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you for your comments – nope not a hosta leaf. Hint: It’s lit from behind so not always this colour.
Stuart Thorpe
No new words of praise to add for this inspired piece of work. Bravo Vikram!
Vikram Franklin replied
Thank you so much for your very kind words Stuart. I’m so glad you liked it.
ajax
Great work is it a fig leaf ?
Vikram Franklin replied
Thanks Ajax – nope – not a fig leaf. Hint: You might find the whole leaf close to where you found this one. (cryptic, I know, but that’s half the fun …)
