Hebrew “מִיכָאֵל” [Mîkhā’ēl] or Latin “Quis ut Deus” – Archangel Michael.
My return to the past.
Image that has existed in my mind since 2006 (first poor attempts to create representation of Michael), with the end of 2011 started appearing more intensly. I understood I’m ready to bring the vision to life again. I did some sketches and planned composition. Work began at the end of February.
Finished, is my biggest non-painting and most meticulous artwork.
“Α” and “Ω” on the armour chest symbolizes God Almighty (St. John’s “Book of Revelations”).
Bristol 100×70 cm. Imagination and charcoal.
Through whole process of creating this work I was accompanied by Latin sentence: “Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam”, meaning “for the greater glory of God”. So it is.
