Zazzle + Octopus Cosplay = Break of Copyright?

“Thank you for your interest in Zazzle.com, and thank you for publishing products on Zazzle. Unfortunately, it appears that your product, “Tako-Chan does Naruto! (Sticker)”, is in violation of Zazzle’s Copyright policies. Specifically, your product contains a copyright protected image of Naruto”

.....sigh
1) Haven’t these people ever heard of cosplay? I mean, I have clearly created a character that is completely mine and original. All I have done is dressed that same character like Naruto. It’s a play on how octopuses can look like anything, even our favorite anime characters.

However, it’s clearly NOT Naruto.

Tako Cosplay vs. Naruto

As you can see, Naruto isn’t blue…or A FRIGGIN OCTOPUS!

2) They wait all this time to take this work down? Why so long to decide it’s a break of copyright? Seems a little shifty to me…

3) ............IT’S A FRIGGIN OCTOPUS! DX

Anyways. For now on my Tako Cosplays will not be uploaded on Zazzle.
No big deal I wasn’t making sales there anyways
lol
So for now on the only place to get Tako Naruto or Itachi-san is Here.

Also when I do more Tako-chan cosplays they will only be uploaded here as well.
I personally don’t think anything Tako-chan does is a break of copyright. You know why?

Because HE’S A FRIGGING OCTOPUS!!! DX!!!

Ps. I was thinking of having a Tako-sale next week. 15% off all Tako shirts. What do you guys think?

Someone may have just reported it…..we all know how bad Zaz is about copyrights.

You can, however, copy a link to a pic of that other octi and then include a link to one of yours and send it in an email to them. Sometimes they just need to be pointed out that they are wrong….lol

Just upload it again and in the description, put something like ‘an original piece NOT to be mistaken for such and such’

that’s just plain bizarre and i don’t know why they would do that….. i reckon you could upload it again, and not mention that its cosplay of Naruto, and you’d get away with it…....

aren’t all the political tees plastered all over their homepage a violation of copyright too then?? by the rules they’ve spelled out here??

I had a request from RedBubble to remove a drawing I did of the Beatles when I was a teenager. Someone thought I might have been infringing the copyright of the photographer whose photo I copied, even though my image was obviously a drawing. I played it safe and removed the drawing, modified it, and put it back up as part of this image. So far, no-one’s raised an objection.

It’s so crazy. I just don’t understand the line. I mean we work hard and create something and then they say it’s copyrighted by someone else even though you’ve made it. I don’t understand fan art either. If there is a really poorly made fan art of someone, then it’s fine. However if it’s a pic of great quality and looks just like who it’s supposed to like your Beatles pic, then it’s copyright infringement. It’s like their discriminating against great artist, lol.

Yer lol, i had an email like this a while back. It was about a Joker inspired t-shirt from the new film ‘the Dark Knight’. I had painted a red smiley face on the t-shirt using photoshop and they sent me an email saying that I was breaching Image copyright laws.

I sent them an email explaining how i had created this myself in my own style with no copyrighted images and also let them know that there were many images already on the main site (clearly breaching copyright laws) that had not been removed.

They then sent me an email saying-

“Support (Marcos) – 08/08/2008 09:55 AM Dear Simon, Thank you for your email. Please feel free to resubmit your product.”

and that was the end of it lol, i havent had any problems since :p

Ug! Lol, since posting this I have reuploaded my Naruto cosplay on zazzle, this time with the description “Tako chan is mine, this is just cosplay, blah blah” Whatever…im through caring what people think. I mean I spent a really long time on each Tako-chan making them from scratch. So either way it’s all mine! At least you got another email from them :D I didn’t get squat after I explained my case, lol.

    oh dear :S

well i wouldn’t worry about it then, you’ve got some great designs and if they dont want them then it is their loss lol. In the long run they are only losing out on some money they could of made from selling your products.

    :)
