Artist's Description

Again about the bloody h factor

Ok a brief comment.

Max Planck (1858-1947), Noble laureat (1918) was a very important German physicist : one of the founder of the quantum theory. His is the postulate that electromagnetic energy can be only emitted in quantized form, in other words, the energy could only be a multiple of an elementary unit and energy = h (Planck’s constant) multiplied ν the radiation frequency.

Nowadays scientific production is increasingly and frequently stupidly asessed by an “h” factor, hence the aitch above. What irks me particularly is that some students & young scientists are sometimes more preoccupied by their h factor or index than by the quality of what they do.
And, and bureaucrats love it!

More about Planck & the aitch thing can be found on Wikipedia
