Featured in two RedBubble groups, see History of this Image in RedBubble for details.

This is the junction in Carrick, County Donegal, Ireland where the tourists turn left to head for Slieve League – the mountain that hosts what the locals claim are “the highest sea cliffs in Europe”. Indeed the pub on this corner has been named in honour of the mountain.

Carrick is within the South Donegal gaeltacht – an area where the first language locally is Irish Gaelic. One indication of this is that the instruction painted on the road, for drivers of cars approaching the junction, is “Stad” which is Irish for “Stop”. Hence the tourist venturing into a gaeltacht area is gently encouraged to acquire at least a smattering of motoring-related Irish words.

This is the “source” equirectangular panorama for the two stereographic versions of this panorama that are available here.

There is one with the sky on the outside:and one with the sky on the inside:

Method and Photographic details
This HDR (High Dynamic Range) panorama was created by combining 27 separate digital photographs covering every angle and with bracketed exposure. Hence there is detail both in the most brightly lit areas and in the shadows.
The Source images were shot hand-held (without the usual tripod) on a Canon EOS 5d DSLR with a 16 mmm fisheye lens, and were stitched and blended into a HDR Panorama using Hugin – a free open-source panorama stitching program.
